It was wonderful to get out and about with, The Bum that Barked, on World Book Day 2022
My first visit was with Nettlestead and Wateringbury preschool. The staff and children looked fabulous in their World Book Day costumes and I had a great time sharing my book before our crafting session. The children made cereal box stages and stick puppets to retell the story.
My next session was with Parkway Primary School in Maidstone.
I visited Parkway last year to share my book and present an assembly on the publication process. We also learnt to sign the book’s theme tune and had a hilarious fart competition! It was great to reconnect with the children I met last summer and see how excited they were to revisit Bean and Bongo’s story!
This time I worked with two classes and we made chatterboxes – a simple origami which can be a fun way to generate story ideas. We used our chatterboxes to develop characters, plot and setting. I look forward to hearing about the finished stories Parkway – I loved working with you on your plans!
